Increasingly many people are realising that the passing of a loved-one is also a significant event in their family history which is worthwhile recording on video. There are many good reasons why a funeral service should be recorded:

• For some the day of a funeral passes in a blur. Having a chance to view the service again later is a way for some to deal with their grieving, and can help with closure.

• Often close relatives or friends of the deceased cannot attend a funeral at short notice. Having a video record of the event can also help them in their time of loss.

• Friends or relatives will often provide a euology at the service. When recorded on video these stories and comments are a historical record of what others thought of the desceased, which become treasured family memories.

We can also use photos provided by the family to create a video montage of the life of the deceased to be played during the service or wake. This can be added to the disk, along with other material provided by the family-the DVD then becomes of a retrospective personal history, rather than simply a video of the service.
